Mastering the Tools of the Trade

- Character Rigging
Learn how to rig character designs in industry standard programs from scratch! Learn how to design a virtual 3D model for a character, and then create the virtual “bones, joints, and muscles that allow models to move”.
- Motion Capture
Motion Capture is a skill you can utilize in many VFX settings. Learning how to place Mo-Cap sensors on actors to help track movement is essential knowledge when pursuing a VFX and Animation career path.
Animators can use computer programs to overlay information on top of the movements, creating a virtual set for the movement to take place in. There are many applications of this skill, and you can learn it in a hands-on environment right here at MTI.
- Cinematography
Did you think “cinematography” was only relevant for live action movies? It is actually incredibly important in animation and VFX as well- creating a whole, visually appealing scene from scratch is arguably harder than doing so with live, practical effects. Grasp the concept of cinematography and how it relates to animation, video games, and VFX work in our Animation and VFX Program- available on campus and online!
- Rendering
“Rendering is the process of creating the final images or videos from 3D models and animations.” It is also relevant to 2D animation, so whatever your goals in the industry, you will be given the toolset to go after them. During your time in MediaTech Institute’s Animation and VFX program, you learn how to produce VFX and animations from beginning to end- and learn by doing which allows you to build a portfolio.
