As part of this partnership, current Recording Arts students and graduates may take the Avid Pro Tools Certification exam on campus with a certified proctor.

What This Means for You

  • The Pro Tools Certification is administered and credentialed by Avid, not MediaTech.

  • MediaTech’s role is limited to:

    • Hosting the exam on campus.

    • Providing access to Avid’s official study materials.

    • Having an Avid-certified instructor serve as the exam proctor.

  • The certification is optional, offered as a support service to students and alumni.

  • There is no separate enrollment into this certification — it is only available to individuals already enrolled in or graduated from MediaTech’s accredited programs.


Avid Certification Options (Administered by Avid)

As an Avid Academic Learning Partner, MediaTech provides access to Avid’s official certification path. These courses and exams are owned and credentialed by Avid, not MediaTech.

A: The Avid Pro Tools Certification is administered and credentialed by Avid, not MediaTech. MediaTech simply provides access to Avid’s study materials, hosts the exam, and has a certified instructor proctor the test.

Q: Who can take the certification exam?
A: Only current Recording Arts students and graduates of MediaTech. This is a student/alumni support service and is not available to the general public.

Q: What study options are available?
A: Students and graduates may follow Avid’s official course path (Pro Tools 101, 110, 201, 210M, 210P). These are Avid-designed courses, not MediaTech classes. MediaTech’s role is to provide access and proctor exams.

Q: What do I receive if I pass the exam?
A: An official certificate from Avid, with optional listing in Avid’s Certified Professional directory and access to Avid’s branding/logos.

Q: What are the benefits of certification?
A: Avid certification demonstrates proficiency in Pro Tools and provides an industry-recognized credential. This is an Avid credential, not a MediaTech credential.

Q: Does certification expire?
A: No. Certification applies to a specific version of Pro Tools. Alumni may update certification through Avid as new versions are released.
