MovieMaker Magazine Interviews MediaTech Film Instructors

Movie Maker Magazine, a magazine dedicated to independent moviemakers, recently interviewed six film school professionals for their publication. MediaTech Institute’s very own filmmakers Keith Duncan- Instructor, Eric Jewell-Department Head and Instructor, and Lee Shapiro- Instructor, were featured in the magazine to give a little insight into the world of film school. Jennifer Wood (MM): What is the biggest change affecting film education right now? And how is your program responding to it? Lee Shapiro (LS): Another change involves how the industry hires. Student Recordings and Videos reaches over 16,000 combined views

DJ Frank-Dux, DJ, Producer, and Videographer, and T(dot)Ace, Drummer and Videographer, didn’t just stumble upon Audio Student Tanner Polk; they were destined to meet and record some pretty sick beats. Music, travel focus of Austin-based reality show

Music and travel are two of my favorite things. Yours, too, I’m guessing. So “Sound Tracks,” a new reality show being produced by the Sessions, a local production company run by Lauren Bucherie and CJ Vinson, looks to be a winner. “The whole premise is to have audiences join us on the road while we explore different American cities in search of your next favorite band,” Bucherie told me. “The show appeals to anyone who likes music, history and culture. This is a show for everyone.” Bucherie and Vinson met at Austin’s MediaTech Institute in 2009 and formed the Sessions Read more

“So my child wants to be in the music biz”

When parents hear that their children want to break into the music industry, whether as a musician or on the business side of things, reactions can be decidedly mixed. Some parents go all out trying to help their children reach the stars, while others take the “dream on, kid” approach and others still are semi-supportive but unsure of what it all means. Which group has the right idea? Maybe all of them. After all, it’s natural for parents to worry about their child’s ability to make a living in a very competitive industry – a dose of realism is always Read more

MediaTech Dallas Hosts Kamp Hollywood

The stage is set. The lights are glaring off the reflective equipment that stands in front of him, and he looks into a sea of faces with eyes glued to his every move. He just completed an audition and is one step closer to his dream.  For Michael, a three-year camper at The Movie Institute’s Kamp Hollywood, this is just a normal scenario for him.
