MediaTech Instructors, Graduates & Students hired as production crew for Fox Sports & CBS College Sports TV Networks
Eric Jewell, MediaTech's Department Head of the Digital Film & Video Arts Program in Dallas Texas, spent his fall weekends as the Director of Photography on a new football television series on Fox.
FoxSports Southwest and CBS College Sports showcased the SMU Mustang football program in a television series during the 2010 football season.
The show, titled "SMU Football 2010: The Climb", featured SMU head Coach June Jones, but also provided insight into the inner workings of a college football program,
by giving viewers a first-time look at practices, team meetings and sideline action.
Eric was a producer, director of photography and occasional editor on the show. Throughout the season he hired MediaTech graduates and current students to work on the show. Eric said he knows it's important for the instrucotrs at MediaTech to be working professionals, and to constantly hone their skills and keep up with the ever-changing world of media production.
"The show was really interesting from a behind the scenes look at a college team. We got to travel to all the games and film the action as it happened. SMU did really well this season, they made it all the way to the final Championship game, plus they won a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl in the post season." said Andy Whalen, MediaTech graduate from 2008, hired as a cameraman and field audio mixer on the show.
The show can be seen on Tuesdays on Fox Sports Southwest, and at various times on the CBS College Sports Network.
